Who wouldn’t love a warmer, cozier house in the winter? Freezing homes are very unpleasant. Cold floors and surfaces force homeowners to wrap themselves in blankets and sweatshirts to stay warm, but there is something you can do that you may not have thought of before: basement insulation and...

Homeowners can go years without using their battery backup sump pump system. But, as is being discovered in the Northeast these past few months, when you DO need a battery backup — you really need it!
Between Hurricane Irene last August and the freak snowstorm that knocked out power for more than...
What Happens To A Vented Crawl Space In The Winter?
Crawl space vents are designed to pull outside air into your home, creating a continuous supply of outside air that moves through the crawl space at all times.
While many would debate the usefulness of ventilating a crawl space at any time of the year, contractors can...
When we think basement flooding, the first thing that comes to mind are torrential downpours, summer storms with thunder and lightning, knocking down trees and power lines. Some of us, usually the ones with chronically damp basements, might even think snow melt.
Very few take into consideration that Mother Nature is...
A good sump pump, tied to a properly installed, working foundation drainage system is a homeowner’s first line of defense against basement flood.
Sump pump failure, on the other hand, is the cause of many basement floods.
Sump pumps are mechanical devices, therefore prone to malfunction, and they need a source of power to...
It’s been a rough winter for Connecticut residents. One of the harshest in recorded history.
We had an unprecedented amount of snow accumulation causing roofs, buildings and fixtures to cave in.
The situation was so serious that on 03/ 03/2011 the Federal Government declared Connecticut a Major Disaster area, making cities and towns around the state eligible for emergency disaster recovery funds.
Then came the rain, and the snow melt presented area residents with yet another set of concerns: floods and flash flood related problems.
At Connecticut Basement Systems, the phones rang off the hook as many area residents, especially in Fairfield, Stamford and Greenwich, had their basements under water. Our crews worked around the clock to help homeowners in the affected areas.
A basement flood is never something that can be taken lightly, but for homeowners with a finished basement, the cost of cleanup and restoration can be enormous and, to make matters worse, most of it might not be covered by their homeowners or even flood insurance.
If the basement is finished with drywall, and if the studs, insulation and drywall aren’t completely dry in 48 hours – and in a basement they hardly dry that quick – there is a huge chance that mold will start to develop in the areas that came in contact with water.
You don’t need to work with Basement Systems Dealers, day in and day out, or meet them all in person at the Annual Convention, to understand that what makes this company and network so great, more than the products, technology and processes are the people.
From the owners to the sales and service teams, we are all about commitment, hard work and WOW Service.
Each one of our dealers is deeply involved with their communities and always ready to chip in to help a good cause. Sometimes, all their commitment and hard work gets recognized by their communities.
In March, two of our dealers received such recognition.

SEYMOUR, CT – Basement Systems is proud to announce that it has been awarded two Connecticut Quality Improvement Award Innovation Prizes for its Risk-Free Affiliate Lead Tracking System and the SaniDry XP Basement Dehumidifier.
The 23-year-old Connecticut Quality Improvement Award is America’s first state-level quality award that uses the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality for Performance Excellence criteria.
The Connecticut Quality Improvement Award’s prestigious Innovation Prize is presented to organizations in Connecticut that have used innovation to create a new opportunity or solve an existing problem, and can demonstrate numerically the benefit to its business and customers.
Basement Systems, Inc. received one gold and one silver CQIA Innovation Prize this year.
“We are extremely proud and honored to be recognized as innovators in today’s volatile business climate by an organization like CQIA. The Malcolm Baldrige criteria have been influential in our company’s growth and success!” said Daniel Fitzgerald, director of marketing for Basement Systems.
Basement Systems’ Gold award-winning Risk-Free Affiliate Lead Tracking System is an automated tracking system for their “Pay Per Inquiry” advertising program in which BSI only pays for the leads it receives. It was developed to be a mutually beneficial advertising system for Basement Systems and its affiliates in a time when more companies have been decreasing the amount of money set aside for advertising. Real time reporting and 100% automation were imperative to the success of the program.
The silver award-winning innovative technology of the SaniDry XP Basement Air System lowers the relative humidity in a home to below 50 percent, which is below the level required for dust mites to thrive. The SaniDry XP has a 110-pints-per-day capacity, a built-in defrost system designed to operate down to 40F, and a direct gravity drain hose to a floor drain, WaterGuard, or sump pump. It can also be drained directly outside if not other drain is present. The XP features a dual-stage filtration system and filters particles from the air as small as two microns (smaller than typical indoor air allergens such as mold spores or dust mite droppings), and an optional carbon filter is available to rid your space of those musty smells.
