Volunteer of the Year

Here at Basement Systems, we regularly join nonprofit organizations to work to make our community better. One of the groups we’ve worked withis TEAM, Inc., a local agency that works to fight poverty and help low-income families become more self-sufficient.

Last week, TEAM, Inc. named Basement Systems with the prestigious title of Volunteer of the Year. The organization said of Basement Systems, “Patient kind and giving, they are truly a great asset.”

Basement Systems Vice President Mark Daconto and Basement Systems employee John Kay accepted the award. Several other local citizens and organizations were also given awards at the Volunteer Reception held at John J. Sullivan’s in Ansonia, Connecticut.

Superstar Top 41 Entrepreneurs

Well-known business authority and author Tom Peters has named Basement Systems President Larry Janesky in his list of Superstar Top 41 Entrepreneurs. Larry joins popular public figures such as Steve Jobs, Oprah, Ronald Reagan and Bono on the list.

Peters wrote the following about Janesky:

“Larry Janesky, Basement Systems Inc., author of very popular Dry Basement Science, transformer of moldy basements, this ‘ordinary’ business a huge winner.”

Tom Peters has been referred to as “the father of the post-modern corporation,” having written 15 books on business management since the 1980s including “In Search for Excellence.” He has been praised by the Economist, the Los Angeles Times, Fortune and the New Yorker, and has been outspoken in topics such as healthcare, women in the workplace and the boomer market.

Basement Systems Employee Running for a Good Cause

An employee of Basement Systems, Mike King, will be running in a half marathon to raise money for Crohn’s & Colitis research.

Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis are little-publicized digestive disorders that 1.4 million Americans and millions more worldwide suffer from.

Basement Systems Opens New Building in Connecticut

At the opening of Basement Systems’ new 57,000 sq.ft. facility, inspiration and hope brings a community together.

100-125 people showed up for a ceremony where Larry Janesky, the owner of Basement Systems Inc., gave a heartfelt testimonial about his feelings on where he came from, where he is, where he will go, and the importance his employees have played in his success.

In attendance among the large crowd were President Bill Purcell of the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce, President Paulette Hotton of the Connecticut Better Business Bureau, First Selectman Robert J. Koskelowski, Junior Achievement President Bernadine Venditto, and State Senator Rob Kane (Assistant Minority Leader) of the 32nd District. The opening marked a milestone for Basement Systems Inc, defining success and community involvement for the 21-year-old leader in basement waterproofing and crawlspace repair. (more…)

Junior Achievement Honors Owner of Basement Systems

Lawrence JaneskyLawrence Janesky, founder and president of Basement Systems Inc., reflected on the people and principles that helped him and his basement waterproofing and crawl space repair company to the level of success at which it now stands during his acceptance speech for being conducted into the Connecticut Junior Achievement Hall of Fame.

Junior Achievement (JA) has been educating and inspiring young people to understand business and global economics to improve the quality of their lives. Junior Achievement is the largest non-profit economic education organization with programs taught by classroom volunteers from the business community across America and in more than 100 other countries.
