Basement Systems Helps "Extreme Home Makeover" with Katrina Victims
In 2007, Basement Systems Waterproofers and CleanSpace Crawl Space Contractors from around the country gathered in Louisiana on March 10 and 11. Their goal? To contribute to the efforts of Extreme Makeover in a Westwego, LA home that was hard-hit by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina and the forces of nature.
Brad and Laura Usea, along with the rest of their family, had been dealt a devastating blow by the full force of the hurricane and barely made it through with their lives. Then, shortly after Katrina receded in February 2007, they faced another terrible ordeal as their home was devastated by a tornado. With the Ursea’s and five family members living there, this was a cruel blow.
Among those living with the family were Brad’s mother and his two brothers, Chris and Chad. The two brothers had made do with a trailed in the back yard and were seen as local heroes, due to their work as volunteer firefighters who rescued many people trapped in their homes during Katrina.
Working with Extreme Makeover was Deltec Homes, Basement Systems, and a small army of volunteers from both near and far who were willing to help a family in need. Basement Systems and the CleanSpace network installed a variety of their award-winning products, including the CleanSpace crawl space vapor barrier, the SmartSump crawl space sump pump, the EverLast airtight crawl space door, the SaniDry CSB crawl space dehumidifier, and CleanSpace Crawl Space Drainage Matting. Lou Bemer, of the Basement Systems world headquarters, spearheaded the event. He was joined by dealers from locations all over the country.
Basement Systems and CleanSpace dealers all over the world provide their customers with free basement waterproofing and crawl space sealing estimates, including a full-color 88-page book and written quote. If you would like us to look at your home and give a consultation, call or e-mail us today!
