Island Building Science Group

I had heard bout foam insulation from many sources and decided to get some more facts as well as a quote for it to be installed at our cottage.  I checked the internet and found a very good international web page which provided a lot of useful information on foam insulation.  That web site also enabled me to request a representative to contact me.  The great thing was that the very next day I received an email from a local contact, Chris Schmidt, a principal of IBSG out of Victoria.  

Chris' responses to my many emails and questions were promptly provided (usually within hours and almost always the same day) very professional and clear in nature.  What's even more impressive he also volunteered to bring his own boat up to my island cottage to answer some additional questions about the job that couldn't easily be discussed via emails blue prints and photos  He arrived in his boat (on a weekend and a date of my choosing) when he said he would.  

I booked his crew a month in advance and we kept in email contact (it was critical that we kept in contact to ensure that his crew and equipment would arrive at a set place and time in order to meet my chartered barge).  

The agreed day arrived and despite record low temperatures that November, his crew and equipment arrived on time without fan fare.  The equipment was loaded without a hitch and the crew quickly rose to all challenges that the cold weather and remote location threw at them.  

From my perspective the three days of the project were worry free.  The crew performed well and seemed to have very good morale as there was no grousing amongst them considering that they had to endure long cold days on a remote island and then a long trip home by boat, ferry and then truck each night.  Quite frankly, working with Chris and his crew was a very pleasurable experience.  They delivered what was promised and more, which I can honestly say being in the home construction/renovation business is unusual BUT very, very much appreciated.  I heartily endorse IBSG and hope they are seriously considered by your committee as worthy recipients of the Torch Award.
