Actions to help reduce humidity
Mold spores flourish in areas of high humidity such as basements, attics and crawlspaces and can become the source of costly problems if steps are not taken to lower your humidity. So if your home is facing mold and mildew concerns or you suspect that your humidity level is too high, here are some steps you can take to lower your homes humidity and reduce your risk of developing mold.
1. Vented appliances such as clothes dryers, stoves, and heaters (all of which produce water vapor that can potentially increase your homes humidity) should, if possible, be vented to the outside.
2. Install and use air conditions/dehumidifiers in high humidity areas such as basements and crawlspaces.
3. Run exhaust fans or open windows when showering, cooking, and running the dish washer.
