Your literature on CleanSpace indicates that ventilation of a crawl space is not necessary. How do you respond to building codes that require ventilation? Also, I've been doing research and came across http://www.smartvent.net which brings up a good point that vapor pressures change as outdoor conidtions change. Obviously they are trying to sell their product but they bring up a good point.

Also, do you provide any training on installation of your CleanSpace product? I'm very serious about going with your product but I don't think any of your distributers in my area have much experience installing the product.

Hello,
This is a hot topic, thanks for the inquiry.
The building codes are changing slowly. North Carolina seems to be leading the way.You can read more about this on the web, advancedenergy.org, crawlspaces.org, buildingscience.com, rlcengineering.com. There has been much research on this subject, and it has been found that there is no scientific research or back up for putting vents in crawl spaces, ie the "code". We do not vent basements, and a crawl space is a short basement. There has been much research on crawl space ventilation, and all the facts point to the same answer. A sealed, conditioned crawl space outperforms a vented crawl space.
All of our dealers are trained installers of the CleanSpace system.
I hope that this helps.
Where are you located?
Thanks.
md

I'm located in the Pittsburgh area. I just sent an email asking about the two distributors in my area to the national@basementsystems.com email account. Thanks for the response.

Will moisture build up between CleanSpace and the foundation wall? If so, does can this cause a structural problem?

I took a look the crawlspaces.org site. Thanks for the info. They seem to focus on the south. Do you have any other recommendations for a north climate? As I've stated, I live in the Pittsburgh, PA area. Any info would be appreciated.

Hello again,
Since you are in Pitts. Pa. you do not have the severe problem they do with crawl spaces in the south. If we have vents(in the north) we close them in the winter because of the severe cold weather. You can check out " Joe's top ten dumb things to do in the north" @ buildingscience.com. Also check out pctonline.com and research - crawl space.
Best of luck to you.
