I am wondering which drain pipe you use in crawl spaces. The one installed in mine is the coragated pipe with the cloth sleeve. I've done some research on the sleeve and according to the information that I have found says that you want to use a filter sleeve to keep pipe from clogging. I'm wondering which dealers use this. Are you all trained to think the same when it comes to installing drain systems in crawl spaces. It seems that there should only be one correct system, not a half a dozen other ways.
It sure would be easy if there were just one type of pipe or system to fix drainage issues. However in different areas the soil conditions may cause a contractor to use one product or another. Silty or sandy soil may call for different filtration than clay or coarse soils. We train our dealer on the features and benefits of a variety of solutions. However each dealer must warranty the system and do what is best for that particular customer and situation. As a matter of fact basement systems has no interest in what pipe system is used in these cases. White PVC, corragated pipe with or without a filter are all purchased at local supply houses this is why I think the contractor would be using what is best for the situation at hand. In many cases I would even say the CleanSpace is the most important part of the system and the drainage is just an extra added value. The drain systems just collects and directs the water in a more efficient way to the sump pump for discharge to the exterior. The CleanSpace is what is protecting the crawlspace atmosphere and home from moisture, which can cause mold, rot, odors, and an insect freindly enviroment. You have a great system!
