Can someone please tell me how they have their extra pump with the battery backup installed? I've had great service, and was really impressed with the job Quality 1st did with my basement up until I had a battery backup installed. It was not properly installed twice. The alarm went off with the pump going off. He installed it with the secondary float alarm just hanging in the tank. I asked them to send someone else, but they didn't. I now have the pipes with black rubber fittings that leak every time it sends water through. It is set up so that the backup float goes off and turns the second pump on well before the water gets to it which is very close to the top of the hole/floor. This can't be right. The second pump should be closer to the bottom. I need someone that knows what they are talking about and cares about this problem. Please help! Please!

Thanks for the questions and concern. Quality 1st is a great company and I'm sure this will be resolved to your satisfaction.

I'll try to answer as many questions as possible without seeing the setup exactly. First the ultrasump battery back is designed to have the alarm sound when it is running to let you know that you are on battery backup power and that attention is required for the primary pump.

Normally the second alarm hangs through a designated hole in the cover unless a solid cover is used in which case the alarm is hung along the side of the liner.

When the secondary pump/ battery backup turns on the water will be approximatly 7" from the cover of the sump.

The leaks in the black rubber fernco's should definetly be adjusted which is a minor repair. I will call Quality 1st and have them call to schedule a service on the pump.

Thanks for the quick response! This second alarm is attached to the PVC pipe well below the second pump so that this second pump runs dry for a while first. I like your idea of mounting this second float alarm to the side of the tank instead since it will allow you to place it just where you want. I tested it last night filling the sump with water from a hose. Since this second pumps intake is at the top of the pump it's scary to watch the water rise so high before it starts pumping. It's not my intention to be a pain about this or get anyone into trouble, I would just like to have someone other than the person that installed this to come out. He came out 3 times to fix this. So far they have not done this for me. I don't know why.

Thanks again,
Jim
