I just received an estimate from a local company today on installing the water guard system in our basement. I have one main concern about the location of the water guard system. Since it is installed on the footer, what happens to the water located between the footer and the pad? Won't the water under the pad seep up into cracks in the pad creating puddles away from the walls? In addition, won't this pressure create additional cracks in the pad?

Most water enters the basement at the floor wall joint at the perimeter. This is why any basement waterproofer wants to remove the floor at the perimeter to install their system and not out in the middle of the floor. Most people get water when it rains and that is surface water and backfill saturation that works its way into the floor wall joint not water table.

Normally once the water is cut off at the perimeter the basement floor will be dry. Occasionally there are exceptions and you will have to add additional drainage in the center of the floor for leaking cracks but that is not to common.

I suggest calling the Basement Systems dealer back for a second visit. Did they show you a computer presentation on how this works?
