I have a crawl space that gets water in it - some surface water and ground water. There is light to moderate mold forming on wood. I have contacted a few companies to get estimates. I know that I need an interior drainage system and a sump pump. Two of the companies mentioned drilling weep holes in the bottom cinder blocks above the footer to drain the water and continue to drain the water from the blocks. The company I am considering made no mention of doing that. It sounds like a good idea. Is that something that should be done? I will be calling the company and asking about it but any input would be appreciated.

Drilling weep holes in the blocks to drain the water is a good idea. However I would strongly recommend the CleanSpace crawlspace encapsulation system. Even if you install drainage and a sump the dirt will still be wet and can continue to cause mold. I would call a local Basement Systems dealer to ask about Cleanspace. You can also check it out on the web site.
