Hello! I have an old house (100+years) and among the many problems it has is the basement. It appears to have been either carved out from the bedrock (limestone), or the foundation is made of limestone blocks. It is completely unfinsihed. As you can imagine, the basement is almost always wet, floods easily, has all kinds of mold and insects, smells to high heaven, and even has holes big enough to let mice in! Also, the entire house seems to be slowly moving down the hill we live on -- the original basement window wells no longer line up with the windows.

We do have a sump pump, however, it was placed in an area that rarely collects water. We also have a dehumidifier that runs constantly.

Can you give some kind of idea what steps or individual projects would be need to fix this problem? We have a Basement Systems dealer in our area -- would they be able to take care of all of it, or would we require additional help? Any help you can give me is much appreciated! Thank you!

Thanks for your question. Believe it or not this is a story we've heard before. This is exactly what basement systems dealers deal with everyday. i think there will be a variety of solutions and systems needed to help but I'm sure it can be repaired. I would call your local dealer for a free inspection and estimate.

Thanks
