We had a system installed last Christmas. The dealer sent us a postcard to schedule an annual service. What does this entail, is it necessary, and if we don't do it annually, is the warranty on our dry basement null and void?

The annual maintanence includes flood testing the systems, checking the pump operation, cleaning any silt or sediment from the sump liner. Changing the battery in the alarm, making sure the check valve and discharge line are free and clear. They will also do an interior and exterior inspection to see if anyhting has changed or could be prevented. If you have a battery backup the battery is also tested.

This service is not required but and does not void your warranty, however a little preventative maintanence could go a long way.
