we have waterguard and 8mm membrane to our propertry which has recently failed and let water in in several places, do you feel the membrane should be replaced or as we have been advised by the company that it should be ok with further attempted relief of hydrostatic pressure.
would a 20mm membrane be better and do you do bigger channels than the standard waterguard where as in our case the waterflow is excessive
thanks for your impartial advice

I do not beleive that replacing the membrane is the answer. You need to look at what caused it to fail and correct the root of the problem. It sounds as if the contractor wants to releive some pressure. This certainly sounds like a reasonable next step. WaterGuard is only made in one size.

thanks for that, should the floor be lifted to inspect the existing membrane to ensure it is still watertight , thanks again for your help

Debbie,
The WaterGaurd system is the system to prevent water from getting onto the floor. I'm unclear what the 8mm membrane is for. I know there are several reasons why someone would recommend a membrane but more information is needed.
I would like to know was the membrane on the floor or walls? Is the membrane under the concrete floor? Is this a basement or crawlspace? Is there a pump system installed?
The more information I have the more accurate I can dignose the problem.

the membrane lies beneath waterproof chipboard floor, we expect that the flooring will need to be removed to reseal the membrane as it has been penetrated by water in several places. is this the case thanks

It sounds like you are correct, however here in the states we do things a little different and we do not have the waterproof chipboard like they do in the UK. So the application is slightly different. I would consult your local contractor and discuss the best options.
Cheers.
