Does anybody have an idea of what I should do?
A building next to the one I own was torn down many years ago. I recently learned from a highly reliable source that when it was torn down, the excavator had a hard time breaking out the old foundation and floor next to my building. He backfilled it with sand. The problem has been there for as long as I can remember, and has gotten worse. I get 3-4" of water in my basement. There is a parking lot next to me, and about 30" of soil between my building and the parking lot.
Does anyone have a clue to getting my basement to stay dry? Is it my foundation wall, the excavator getting lazy and behind schedule and not removing the entire foundation?
For the most part, the parking lot does not slope towards my building.
Thanks.
Any comments/thoughts would be much appreciated
