Hello,
We need some advise. Our home is 16 yrs. old. It has a 4 foot crawl space. It was apparently built on a high water table. Water is seeping thru the bottom of the cinder block walls and in some areas water puddles(8-10 iches deep) mainly in the corners. When the weather is bad (like hurricanes) we have had several FEET of water. Yes, we do have a sump pump, but its hard to dig thru the rocky stones to get the sump pump in deeper. We've had several people in to suggest to us what to do to STOP this, but we are still unsure. My husband wants to pour fiber reinforced silicone cement over 1/4 inch thick plastic barrier on top of the stones. I want to have a properly installed sump pump, maybe french drains on the side walls, loads of new stone, then thick plastic on top of the new stone, and finally a dehumidifier.... We do have a few windows down there, we were told to keep them closed, yet my husband says to open them for ventilation. I think that's wrong. The water problem caused condensation on the insulation, therefore my husband pulled some of the insulation down to not allow the water to seep through to our floor boards.....So with all this said, we'd appreciate any and all advise. THANKYOU SO MUCH.
