First time home buyer with a huge problem!

I have a flooding issue in my yard that carries over to the crawl space. I have had many contractors offer solutions. I like what two engineers had to say. Both said that the water in the crawl space is due to saturation of the ground water, which seeps up into the space from below. They cannot guaranty this, but say that they are confident that once the yard is graded properly that the crawl space will be dry. I plan to fix the yard problem first and see what happens to the crawl space.

In either situation I plan to put a French drain system in as a backup along with the insulation that your web site suggests. Being a new home owner for the first time, these are big expenses that we cannot afford. However I'm quit handy and can tackle this project on my own, with the help of an electrician, for the sump pump hookup. Can I purchase the materials needed from you directly?

I have already had a company "the Basement Doctor" give me an Estimate. 17K is outrageous, but to be expected with the high cost of living in DC. However they were very pushy to get a contract signed right away and made me uneasy, even if I could afford them. Do you reccomend anyone else? Is basement doctor a contractor for basement systems?

Thanks,

Pfrost
