Sanidry maintenance

I recently had a Sanidry dehumidifier installed in my crawl space, the imensions of which are approx 2200 sq ft by 3 ft high. The unit is set to "medium" humidity (I believe about 50%). The dirt floor is covered by heavy poly sheet. The unit is draining properly to the exterior of the space. However, it runs continuously, never shutting off. Can this continuous mode be sustained - does it result in shortened lifetime for the unit? What maintensnce does the unit require? I live in Virginia.

Where in Virginia are you, and who installed this unit for you?
The unit has an off/auto and an on switch. It should be turned to off/auto and the unit will only run when it is dehumidifying at the appropriate level.
