I am going to finish 1/2 of my basement and I would like to install ThermalDry flooring in the finished rooms. The 2x4 studded walls are already in place with pressure treated bottom plates sitting on the concrete. Do the ThermalDry tiles but up against the bottom plates? Do they need to be sealed to the pressure treated wood around the perimeter? I will be installing carpet in one room and laminate flooring in the other right on top of the tiles.

Also the floor has been painted with epoxy paint. Does this effect at all how the tiles work? Do I need to remove the paint first before having the tiles installed?

The house is 3 years old and there have been no leaks. The only issue is high humidity to which I will be installing the sani dry system.

Hello,
You should leave about 1/4" gap between the wall studs and the flooring for expansion, with the perimeter tiles fastened to the floor for the carpet installation. The laminate floor is another matter, we dont recommend wood flooring in a basement the possibility of mioisture due to humidity or even a plumbing leak from damaging or buckeling the flooring. The epoxy paint will not grow mold on it but you should clean the floor well prior to installing the Thermaldry floor because anything organic like dirt or dust can cause mold to grow.

So, can I infer from your response that the ThermalDry tiles can be installed as a DIY project? If so, where can I get a price quote for them?
