cleanspace over painted walls?

:mad: It seems like some questions are avoided by the people answering them. I asked a question whether cleanspace was appropriate over painted walls as mold could grow on the paint behind the walls. The previous owner of my home painted the basement walls. I have received a quote from a basement systems dealer here in NJ for cleanspace, and their salespeople are calling back, but it has been nearly a month since I posted, and I have received no answer to the question. I want to know if there is anything that needs to be done prior to a cleanspace installation or if cleanspace is not appropriate in this case. The representative that came to my house acknowledged that mold could grow behind it but it would be sealed off. I do not like the idea of mold behind a plastic sheet. Please advise.

I apologize that your original question went unanswered. You probably don't know what kind of paint was used, some basement paints are non-organic and thus will not support mold growth.

CleanSpace does have an anti-microbial agent manufactured into it. As a result, CleanSpace will not support mold growth. However, if paint, or any surface has dirt, mold can grow on dirt.
