Greetings:

First time post. I am planning to DIY the grading of our yard, including replacing window wells, broken windows, etc.

The challenge I have is that the 1950's house has small basement windows, whose top lines up with the top of the foundation, but the window wells are too low. According to standard practice, I'm told, the wells should be about 5 inches higher. With the standard windows, I will just get an 18" well and provide drainage tile from the well and use rock of various sizes essentially to make a french drain out of the well to move the water away from the house.

There are two sets of windows, however, that are constructed with "wiggly glass" blocks. They are 6 feet wide and 8 inches high. The window well I'll need is 76 inches wide and at least 12 inches deep.

All the best,
Garibaldi
Can anyone give me a method for [easily, hopefully) constructing a well for those two windows? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Our SunHouse Window Well (http://www.basementsystems.com/basement_waterproofing/basement_window/window_well.php), as seen on HGTV's "I Want That!", has a few different configurations with a maximum overall window size of 24" high by 38" wide.

We also have a window well drain (http://www.basementsystems.com/basement_waterproofing/basement_window/window_well_drain.php) system called WellDuct that all of our Basement Systems dealers can help you with.

Your windows seem oddly configured at 6 feet across. However, Basement Systems dealers do carry custom-sized, thermal, all-vinyl EverLast basement windows (http://www.basementsystems.com/basement_waterproofing/basement_window/) and may be able to help you with some of them.

For more information, schedule a Free Estimate (http://www.basementsystems.com/forms/contact.php) with your local Basement Systems dealer.
