My crawl space has mud and standing water is that normal?

I have just recently moved into this townhouse im buying and i noticed that there is mud and standing water about 2 inches deep i was wondering what to do what is causing this and is this normal? I just moved to colorado from texas so i have never had a crawl space under my house before.

Standing water in a crawl space is all too common. Dirt crawl spaces are also very common.

The solution is to waterproof the crawl space so you no longer have this standing water, as it can lead to other concerns, such as damage to the structure and mold among other things (I don't mean to alarm, but the problem should be dealt with).
