I recently had a local contractor install cactus board and a new perimiter drain in an existing basement. The top of the cactus board was sticking up 3-1/2" above the top of the basement floor. He (the contractor) 1st told me that my floor at the footing was only 2" thick and that was the reason the "extra material" was above the floor. Then while I was working down in the basement the floor broke under my foot. The concrete was only 3/4" thick. There was 2 1/2" of pea gravel between the cactus board and the concrete footer. I looked at cactus boards website and It clearly states that the product is to be installed directly on the footer. The contractor said that this was "his installation" and he didn't care what cactus board recommended. I told him that this was not the job he sold me and it was not acceptable and to do it over. He relectantly agreed to redo the concrete but insisted that there needed to be and inch of pea gravel under the cactus board. Now that it has been done again I have 2-7/8 inches of the cactus board sticking out above the floor. Does anybody know if this is an approved method of installation. And will it be warrantied if I ever have another problem.

CactusBoard is a widely distributed foundation drainage product. We have two versions of the product, with varying ways to install it, depending on the particulars of the foundation. Please call me so I can get your information as well as the contact information for the installing contractor. You can reach me at 800-768-0935 x9322 Thanks! Phil Franco
