Hi Tim,
We had a representative from Clean Crawlspace recommend we install your SmartSump because it came with a brass or stainless steel impeller and that we should avoid a sump pump with a plastic impeller. I checked the specifications for the Zoeller 53 and I see it has a plastic impeller. Do you offer the option of a brass or stainless steel impeller?
Howard
The Zoeller M-53 1/3 hp.
No, the M-53 does not have metal blades. The Smartsump is designed to fit into small spaces, and accommodate that specific pump.

Tim,
Does your SuperSump Sump Pump System (http://www.basementsystems.com/basement_waterproofing/waterproofing_products/sump_pump/super_sump_pump.php) use the higher quality construction?
Thanks,
Howard
No, the M-53 does not have metal blades. The Smartsump is designed to fit into small spaces, and accommodate that specific pump.
The zoeller M-53 pump is a very reliable pump with features such as cast iron construction to disipate heat, and add to the life of the pump. Basement Systems has been using Zoeller pumps exclusivly for years and are very satisfied with their performance.
Zoeller does make pumps with metal impellers to chop up solids, unfortunately those pumps do not fit into the Smartsump liner. If you need this option, that pump will fit into our Supersump liner.
