I just put in a new vapor barrier and TODAY it is all it is smooth and shiny and I want to keep it that way. In order not to ding it up and poke holes in it, i would like to run some rubber “sidewalks” to the various utilities that are down there. I thought about using the rubber runners like they use in commercial building lobbies when it is raining, or they use to cover basketball courts when there is going to be foot traffic on them. The problem is the price per foot is prohibitive…to make a central runway with stubs out to various utilities, we wud need 75 feet or more. Anyone have a cheaper solution? TNX

klimala,

Other than the clear plastic runners that I believe you are talking about, I've seen general contractors use a heavy brown paper that comes on a roll when they are working on a new wood floor or over a wood floor that they don't want to scratch. And now that you have CleanSpace and have lowered the relative humidity the paper should be fine in there. Plus when it gets dirty, it can be replaced fairly inexpensively.
