View Full Version : humid basement

I have some cracks in my basement floor. In the summer the basement feels humid and there are white deposits and in some locations a fuzzy looking mold on the cracks. One summer some cardboard boxes sitting on the basement floor were water damaged. This appeared to me to be from the card board drawing up the moisture from these cracks. There is frequently a width if about 1 inch on either side of the cracks of a darker grey color which also appears to me to be due to moisture. Our sump pump wprks the whole summer whether or not we've experienced a lot of rain. The pump does not go off in the winter or early spring or fall.

I consulted our local basement systems distributor for an opinion and he suggested a subfloor with a liner which looks like an egg carton. I'm leaning towards purchasing the product but I am concerned that this will not fix my problem. Any thoughts?
