I've owned my home in NJ for 4 1/2 years (built in 1947), never had a drop of water until the recent Noreaster. 15-16 hours after rain started, water began to seep through small cracks in the middle of the basement floor. By morning, had 3 inches of water. It's been two weeks since the storm ended, and water is STILL coming in; I wake up to an inch of water in the basement every morning.
I have a few questions:
1. Is it common for water to still be seeping in after this much time has passed?
2. Would the Waterguard / Triple Safe system resolve this problem?
3. How long does it take for a Basement Systems Contractor to make contact? (I signed up for an estimate two days ago)
Thanks for your time.

Answer 1. It is common for water to seep in days and sometimes weeks after a rain like that. It depends on the type of soil the water is filtering down through. Some soils like sand makes for drainage fast and furious while other soils like clay makes for slow prolonged drainage.
Answer 2. Yes, the WaterGuard and Triple Safe systems are the best solution to keep your basement dry.
Answer 3. With all the rain in the Northeast the dealer in your area could be a little busy but be patient they are worth the wait.

Thanks for the response...
Unfortunately, your local dealer can't come to my house for an inspection until early July... I'm not sure I'm comfortable waiting that long, may have to go with another company.

mikenj67,
We do hear this a lot... that the local Basement Systems dealer has a longer wait than another basement waterproofing contractor.
So you have to ask, why is the other contractor not as busy as the Basement Systems dealer? There's usually a few reasons for this:
1. They don't get a lot of referrals, so they don't have as many customers. Why don't they get a lot of referrals?
2. They sub-contract their installation crews, so they can build up a work force quickly to suit the situation. Basement Systems dealers don't do this because we only want to use highly trained installation crews... this ensures better workmanship and quality.
3. Many contractors do whatever work the wind blows their way... if it's raining a lot then they're basement waterproofers. See how long they've been in business -- and then ask how long they've been in business under their current business name and current license.
I would also consider the warranty -- that is only as good as the company that offers it -- so it is very important to be comfortable with the company that is installing your system.
As Ron said, it's worth the wait. It is your basement and your home that you are putting this investment in to solve your wet basement problem. It's better to do this only once.
Thanks,
Richard
