Truth in advertising?

The neighbours down the street are having their basement tended to by Basement Systems. As the Basement Systems panel truck passed by our house, my nine-year-old daughter stated "I wouldn't want to hire those guys"! My wife asked her why. "Because it has a guy on the truck saying 'I Quit', they're going to quit the job before they finish". She was, of course, referring to the advertisement on the side of the truck depicting a home owner up to his armpits in water giving up trying to contain the water himself. :D :D

My wife explained it to her and she thought maybe you should get a new sign. :D

Truth is, we have had a Basement System in our own home since 1997. Like most Calgarians during the summer of that year, we experienced a tremendous amount of water in our basement. Thankfully the basement hadn't been developed yet as we had just bought the house. We called Basement Systems and they completed the massive job within two days and we have yet to have a hint of water in our now developed basement.

If there is anything that I am sure about when it comes to my home, I'm sure that I called the right company to take care of my problem.

I have to admit, as a 29 year old male, I often still have the mind of a child, but I felt the same way as the 9 year old. Not only is "I Quit" a negative connotation, but the drawing is somewhat dated and unprofessional. It should be more crisp. If they guy is going to say "I Quit", he should be referencing something. It does look like a contractor...

Thanks for the comments. We began with this mascot, Otto, 20 years ago, and over the years we have heard these comments. So why haven't we changed it yet? ... Well, we're a pretty successful company with more that 250,000 installations of our basement waterproofing (http://www.basementsystems.com/basement_waterproofing/) and crawl space (http://www.basementsystems.com/crawlspace/) systems. So maybe it's superstition. Or maybe it's nostalgia. Hopefully it doesn't turn off people who are in need of our services ;-)
