I just had Basement Systems install Waterguard and Thermaldry wall systems in my unfinished basement which I plan on finishing soon. I was also given a quote for Thermaldry floor matting but have some concerns about the flooring system.

Will my contractor know how to work with the Thermaldry floor?

What is the proper way to build walls on top of the Thermaldry floor and are there any restrictions or special considerations when doing so?

It seems like all available information on Thermaldry flooring only mentions carpeting. Are there any other acceptable floorings that can be used on top of Thermaldry?

Some of my basement will be finished as a kitchen where I don't want carpet and would like to use tile. The same goes for a bathroom that is planned for the basement. How do I handle this? The kitchen area will not be a separate room so there would be an area where the carpeted portion of the basement meets the kitchen without a wall to divide.

There will also be some nicely finished walk-in storage closets where carpet might not be appropriate.

Where can I find additional information about how to finish a basement after Thermaldry fllooring has been installed? There has to be more to it than just using tack strips and carpet. What are my options?

The ThermalDry Floor Matting is recommended for the installation of carpet or a laminate floating floor system. It is not recommended for the installation of ceramic tile or sheet laminates like linoleum.

The installation of ThermalDry Floor Matting is very easy to install. The ThermalDry Floor Matting is like cutting wood. It is more of a convience to install the ThermalDry Floor Matting before or after the walls are framed. Securing the walls to the ThermalDry Floor Matting after it is installed is a contractors preference. Some contractors nail through it some glue it some do both.

Sorry, I don't have any experience with ThermalDry but it is very interesting product that I haven't seen before. Thanks for pointing it out. Looks like it may be expensive, though......do you have any pricing?

Depending on how many square feet you have it could range between
$4.50-$6.50 a square foot.
Call your local Basement Systems dealer for exact quoting.
