I wish to congratulate on the wealth of materials available on your website regarding basement water-proofing. Recently, when I was looking to water-proof our basement, this information was very useful to me in learning about the subject matter, available products, and soliciting and evaluating quotes from local vendors. I also wish to congratulate you on your excellent sales staff. I have been working with Mr. Larry Dunnigan from your central office. Mr. Dunnigan is a professional of highest caliber and has been extremely helpful.
After going through a complete analysis of various quotes, references, and products, I decided to award the project to Basement Systems. However, in trying to get electricals done in preparation for the actual system installation, I have run into couple of challenges. I am hoping that this forum can help me resolve these challenges.
When installed, my system will consist of 2 x SuperSump, 2 x UltraSump, WaterGuard, SaniDry, ThermalDry Floor, and ThermalDry Wall components. Currently, the basement is unfinished and all the electricals (and communications) have been cleanly and carefully isolated to one corner of the basement. This includes battery backups for various in-house systems. I wish to do the same for the UltraSump installation. My first set of questions:
1. Is the pump in UltraSump directly connected to the battery or through an inverter?
2. Is it possible to locate the battery charger and the battery away from actual location of the UltraSump?
3. If yes, what kind of wiring needs to be run between the battery and the UltraSump location and the type of outlet at the UltraSump location.
4. In current Electricals corner, what kind of mounting bracket/hanger is needed to mount the battery on wood board? (It is huge and there is plenty of room.)
Please note that the original Electricals contractor recommended by your office claimed to have researched this topic and said that #2 is doable. He was not able to answer #1 and #3. For #4, he said I need to order special parts; however, he did not have the part number. I thought I will cut the middleman and speak with an expert directly; I called your central office and requested to be connected to an Electricals expert. The person I spoke with did not know anything more than what is printed on the Orange Card (specifications for individual components). I had to give up on the recommended electrician since he quoted an astronomical figure as a rough estimate for running 5 circuits, also because of the long distance involved, it seemed impractical for him to visit our house once for giving an exact estimate and another time to do the actual work (assuming his quote is reasonable).
I would like to contact a local electrician and get the work done. For this reason, it is important for me to know answers to the above questions.
Finally, I must share my greatest disappointment with your website. In this day-and-age, it is hard to imagine a website that does not provide downloads area containing detailed product specifications, installation instructions, owner’s guides, warranty information, etc. in PDF form. I have tried to follow couple of links posted in various forums but the URLs seem to be stale. I was looking for installation instructions and owner’s guide for SaniDry in order to understand how it is going to hook into CAC and usual maintenance requirement but I had no such luck in finding this information.
Please accept my thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Regards,
Mohan
