Hi,
Can anyone tell me if a sump pump (if I am calling it the right name) is suppose to make noise after getting a lot of rain? We have been getting a lot of rain in the Louisville Kentucky area this week. My wife and I have been hearing this loud noise in the house and have traced it to the basement. Initially, we thought it was the garage door trying to open itself. The noise is so loud that it is difficult to sleep at night. The noise seems to come and go about every 5 to 10 minutes. I don't know much about sump pumps other than what I have learn on the internet through search engines, etc. I think we have the submersible type vs pedestal type. It has a wire running from it to an electrical outlet. There is a metal plate on the floor. I guess this is the top and the tank down below. I started to unplug the thing to see if that would stop the noise. The wife thought that might not be wise since we are getting all this rain and we are expecting more. Please tell me if this noise is normal for this type sump pump and or what the problem could be! We need this noise eliminated ASAP so we can rest properly at night. Thanks in advance!
