MR MODERATOR why does my basement systems dealer refuse to investigate my complaint that they did something to my sump pump during the preventative maintenance service they performed.

Hi fireman,

The pump is probably a Zoeller, one of the best on the market, and even though one of the best, it still only comes with a one-year warranty from the manufacturer.. due to a lot of factors. Typically we do see most pumps last between 3 and 5 years, but there are exceptions, reflected by the manufacturers warranty.

If the sump pump is not working, you need to have it replaced, so have your local dealer come out and do so. If you let me know who the local dealer is and your contact information, I can also pass it on to the dealer. You can call me at 800-638-7048.

I don't understand how a company that guarantees to have the best system to keep water out of your basement can have a pump fail in 2 years. And how do they make you have to pay for a new one? So every 2-5 years the pumps are expected to fail, and then you would have to buy a new one? I would imagine these pumps are pretty expensive. Also, when these pumps fail, isn't that exactly when you can expect water to come busting through the wall/floor seam because the water has no where else to go?

I have a leak in my basement that I'm planning on getting fixed in the spring. I'm starting to think what most pros say is true, that the only real way to fix a basement leak is from the outside. Unless, the moderator or someone else here can explain why someone would get stuck with having to purchase a new pump every 2-5 years. And how much do these pumps run?

I purchased a systems by Basements systems last year? I was never told the pump would have to be replaced in two years to five years. Is this true?

after basement systems did a preventative maintenance call on my sump pumps and one of the pumps was short cycling on and off quickly for about ten to fifteen times i called basement systems with my COMPLAINT and they said that the service man could not of done anything to cause this short cycling and that i need a new pump (two years old) eventually the pump was running constantly for days until it would eventually shut off. i went into the crawlspace MYSELF and found out that when basement systems did PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE (99$) ON MY PUMP THEY CAUSED A FOLD IN THE FABRIC THAT LINES THE BASE OF THE SUMP PIT that fold was right below the float to the pump so when the pump came on the float would go down and hit the fabric and not shut off. mr administrator why would basement systems not come out to investigate my COMPLAINT???

fireman,

Basement Systems is the manufacturer of basement waterproofing (http://www.basementsystems.com/basement_waterproofing/) and crawl space products. The dealerships do the installations. So the Basement Systems dealer that came out and did the service maintenance is the company that will have to resolve this problem.

That being said, I'm not sure what you mean by fabric filter. There is no fabric that lines the base of our sump pump systems (http://www.basementsystems.com/sump_pump/).

Give me a call at 800-638-7048 x9319, and let me know who the local dealer is and I can help you to get in touch with them to resolve this.

Thanks,
Richard
