I own a home built in the late 1800's - the structure is sound according to a home inspection and a friend who is a builder. I do have water problems, though. There is water, when we have heavier rains, that comes through several cracks and also some that seems to permeate through other areas (the wall is obviously wet when you look at it).

My question is: what is the best method for addressing this issue given stone foundation? I would assume we would want to address it on the exterior in order to protect the foundation?

We have many stone foundations over the years and primarily from the inside. One thing to consider about a stone foundation is the way in which they were built. In the 1800's the excavation for the foundation was exact and the stones were stacked up against the virgin soil. This allowed the builder to pack them up against a solid dirt wall in many cases. This is why we would rarely excavate a stone wall on the outside. Bestto get a local Dealer to come out for a free inspection and estimate. Call 1-800-541-0487 for a dealer in your area.
