I am working with your Local distributor Atlantic Basement Systems. I am doing my own excavation and cement removal. I am down to the footing all around the wall. The local fella said I need 5 inches wide from the wall to the footing. Do I have to go deeper than the footing?

It was reccomended that we excavate under the foundation and put some crushed stone instead of using a sump. Is this feasable for a cold storage that only leaked for a few days during the spring thaw? We are looking at about 4-5, 5 gallon pails of h20.

If I decide to go with a sump system how big should the excavation be to fit the sump?

Thanks in advance,

Geoff

You only need to go down to the top of the footing and about 5" out from the wall.

I would recommend at least putting in a sump liner and lid. Even if you dont put the pump in you will have all the hard work done. If in the future if you need a pump you will be able to just drop it in and run the plumbing.

I would also contact your local dealer about any other situations that might purtain to your basement.
