Our house is a little over a year old. When we moved in last summer we noticed we were getting water in the crawlspace and called out the local Basement Systems dealer who recommended mold treatment, the Clean Space Encapsulation System with a sump pump and a dehumidifier which was promised to eliminate the moisture problem and wet earth smell. We had them treat it and install the Clean Space System but the wet earth smell will not go away. We have had their technicians come out to look at the problem and they recommended changing the dehumidifier filter, which we did, but the smell is still there. Some days its stronger than others but it’s always present. Does anyone have a recommended solution to this problem. The smell (wet/moldy earth like) is definitely coming from the crawlspace and is strongest in there. Sump pump, dehumidifier, plumbing and HVAC systems have all been checked out and are not the source. The crawlspace is ~1000 sqft and ranges in height from 5’ to 3’. All vents have been sealed. Gutters are diverted away from the house and landscaping has diverted water away from the house.
