No water going into my sump?

My house is 15 yrs old and there is no water going into my sump. I have just moved into the house and do not know if there ever was water going into the sump.
I suspect there must be a problem even after heavy rain no water in the sump

This is not nessesarily a problem. Do you have water anywhere on the floor? Some times homes are built with sump pump systems as a precaution and they never get used. However I would recommend keeping it in good working order. It can be tested with a garden hose if you want to check the pumps operation. You can also have a Basement Systems dealer come out to inspect the system and test it. There may be a service charge but it could be well worth it.
