Also I was thinking to spray the walls with mortar since I ripped them all out already. I noticed a few places where the water was coming in around the outside foundation which were cracks which I caulked and than cemented. I ran a water hose before and the water was gushing in through the fieldstone walls. I also caulked where the driveway meets the foundation in other areas. Not too sure if it will hold up though. The french drain I installed with a sump pump was around all 4 walls. Not too deep because I wanted to catch the water from the walls as well as any water coming up. Any ideas or criticism? Thanks again.
Hi Charlene Bieber,
I saw one of your posts and from what I read it seems you are a caring & knowledgeable person. So any help or advice you can give will be greatly appreciated. I am a contractor and came across a job to install a sump pump with all this rain. The poor home owner just bought the house 3 years ago and always gets water. The basement was finished and I noticed tons and tons of mold which I ripped out everything. I installed a french drain around all 4 walls about 5"-10" with a slight pitch. I placed the holes of the pipe on top and to the wall slightly from the floor which I hope was the right thing to do? I ran a hose and it did drain to the pump but I think some water escaped into the hole which is now cemented. Now I have to deal with the fieldstone. Spray foam insulation? Skimcoat with plaster? I really want to solve the problem and not cut any corners. I really want to solve this problem for the homeowner so she can live in peace and in good health (mold). Thanks.
