While CleanSpace is a great idea for keeping moisture out of your crawlspace, you should not try to use it to contain significant water leakage. We recommend the installation of a SmartSump Crawl Space Drainage System for your crawlspace.  The SmartSump comes equipped with a 1/3 horsepower high-quality cast-iron Zoeller sump pump with an automatic float switch. It installs in your crawlspace floor in a bed of clean gravel and can be installed with a drainage swale, trench system, or perforated drainage piping system to direct the water to the pump. It sits on a special CleanPump stand to keep the stand out of any silt or sediment that might otherwise make its way to your pump. The pump liner is designed with an airtight lid that makes a perfect seal with your CleanSpace installation. Additionally, a special ball and cup design on the pump lid allows water from plumbing leaks to drain through to the pump. If your SmartSump fails to pump the water out for any reason at all, a WaterWatch Alarm will sound, letting you know there’s a problem right away.
If water in your crawlspace is a concern, you may also wish to consider adding a battery backup to your system. Our UltraSump battery backup sump pump will run in the case of a power outage or if the primary pump is overwhelmed. The UltraSump can drain over much as 8,000 gallons of water on a fully charged battery!
 Because you do not enter your crawlspace regularly, plumbing leaks in a crawlspace can sometimes go for months or years without notice! When you have waterproof CleanSpace installed, it can fill up your crawlspace like a swimming pool. So if there’s a leak, you’ll want to know right away. If you do not install a SmartSump in your crawlspace, you should at least install a SmartDrain Plumbing Leak System. This system includes a plastic drain designed to send any water in the crawlspace into a drywell, keeping it out of your encapsulated area. The cover is airtight and will let water drain out without allowing damp air to come back in. An alarm installed on the top will alert you of a leak right away so you can start fixing the problem immediately.
