There is efflorescence on the concrete walls of my basement. I have washed the minerals off of the concrete but now the concrete walls look bad with variations of gray sections. My house was built in 1849. I have water coming in through a window in the basement when we have down pours or a long day of rain, possibly through some of the foundation as well, though the concrete was redone a few years ago but they never finished up with the point brick. I did recently use DRY-LOK in the area where the foundation had cracks. After that is when I noticed the water coming through the window. I have a very bad mold issue which was remediated back in November but you wouldn't know it now. I now have a brand new dehumidifier specifically for the basement that has been running for a couple of months, as well as a ventilator that was put in after the mold remediation in November. I can literally smell the mold when I walk in the front door and my living room is definitely affected by the mold down cellar. The fumes are coming through. I run an air cleaner in the living room. I get itchy sometimes. I am definitely allergic. I think my cat is getting asthmatic from it. I have 2 sump pumps already. One runs every so often to empty the dehumidifier and the other is plugged in on the other side of the cellar but has never come on. I don't get water on that side; not for many years.
