The soil underneath the home's foundation has become unstable, resulting in the piers supporting the floors above settling.
During the inspection, the LRE Design Specialist identified significant sagging in many of the home's wooden floor joists, caused by the block piers beneath them settling over time.
The homeowner had noticed a slope developing at the rear of their home, and upon further inspection by an LRE Design Specialist, horizontal cracks were also found along the exterior walls.
Several cracks had appeared across the surface of the homeowner's concrete driveway, caused by soil settlement and underlying tree roots that caused the slabs to heave.
The appearance of thin horizontal and stair-step pattern hairline cracks alarmed the homeowner, prompting them to have their foundation inspected.
Before the installation of the new drainage system, the back porch of the home had encountered flooding issues. The original downspout from the gutters above had directed a substantial amount of rainwater around the foundation below.
Situated right at the front of the home, the emergence of this trip hazard due to settling concrete posed a significant safety concern for the homeowner.
The homeowners were surprised to discover cracks within the walls of their newly purchased home, prompting them to immediately seek out a professional inspection.
