HAVING HUMIDITY ISSUE IN BASEMENT INTERESTED A D EHUMIDIFIER IN FINISHED BASEMENT

We have an existing non-vapor barrier rough slab over most of the ground floor surface of our row house. We are looking to patch the areas of dirt floor, add a vapor barrier topcoat to the entire surface, and then polish it for a continuous and uniform finished surface. The total floor area is about 820 sf. Of that, the total existing dirt floor area is approximately 190sf. Alternatively, we are interested in removing the rough slab, and doing a new vapor barrier polished concrete slab.

We experienced a flood in our under ground basement due to the heavy rains. Our home is only 6 years old, based in a condominium/town home community, and although we have had sump pump issues prior to this situation we have never had 6-8 inches of water. The water began to seep through the concrete floor and around the edges of the walls where the floor meets which eventually was too much for the sump pump to handle.
