Our sump pump runs about every 7(ish) minutes, even when there hasn't been rain. When there is heavy rain, it pours in like a river, bringing along with it, sand. The last time our basement flooded there was about 5 inches of water. We have to redirect the sump pump to drain out of the basement window when it's that bad and also hook up another pump to the garden hose, directing it outside through a different window.
