Insulating a Basement in North Granby, CT

This homeowner in North Granby, CT called us looking for insulation in his basement. He was concerned as the insulation was dropping from the ceiling and falling to the floor. Additionally, he had a rodent problem that needed to be addressed. Our Home Comfort Specialist came out to the home and recommended removing the old insulation and insulating the rim joist.

We had the perfect solution for this customer! We utilized two-part expanding spray foam. We insulated the rim joist (the perimeter of the floor framing system along the exterior of the home). We spray this foam in the rim joist and over the sill plate. Insulating the rim joist in this way seals all air leaks -- filling in the cracks and gaps that are present there. This prevents outside air from getting into the home. The homeowner is now very happy, and he is much more comfortable in his home!

Air Sealing End Plates in West Simsbury, CT

End plates are at the top of every single wall in the home. The problem with end plates is there's generally a quarter inch to an inch gap left during construction of the home. This allows for air leakage which lets the cool air escape the home in the summer and warm air to escape in the winter.

When the hot air leaks into your attic in the winter, ice dams occur on your roof.  Ice dams can cause thousands of dollars of damage to your home!

Air sealing end plates is the first, and most important, of multiple treatments to eliminate ice damming.

New Basement Door In West Simsbury, CT

This home owner in West Simsbury,CT had called us to his home to investigate his cold, dry basement. When we got there we noticed his basement door had seen better days. What we did was take out the old door and the old framing and went to work putting in new framing and putting in a new steel insulated door. It is important to put in new framing because the old wood was not pressure treated and was starting to rot away. After the door is installed, we insulate and air seal the pockets and seams so no air can get in when the door is closed. Now this basement will not have cold, dry air leak into the basement.

Making a Room Comfortable in Ashfield, MA

This homeowner in Ashfield, MA called us out to their home to help them make a bedroom warmer and increase energy efficiency in their home. When this home was constructed there was a room built with an exposed wall to the attic. This will let the harsh outdoor air into the room that you are paying to heat or cool while letting that cooled or heated air out. This results in the room being too hot or too cold, and high fuel and electric bills.

To fix this uncomfortable bedroom, we want to get right to work. We install our SilverGlo foam insulation board and seal it with special long screws to the attic side of the bedroom wall. We foam between any SilverGlo pieces to make sure air is not able to continue to leak in or out.

Now, this room will be more comfortable, affordable, and energy efficient thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions!

Installing a David Lewis Hatch Cover™ in Weatogue, CT

This homeowner in Weatogue, CT called us with issues with his attic insulation. When our Home Comfort Specialist arrived, he noted that the attic pull down stairs were leaking a LOT of air up into the home. This is fairly common -- it is hard to insulate these attic hatches. But this means that the air this homeowner is paying to heat and cool was leaking up into the attic, where it escapes out the vents.

We were able to help this customer create a more comfortable home. Our solution was our exclusive David Lewis Hatch Cover™. It is created out of lightweight SilverGlo™ insulation, and prevents air leakage from the attic stairs into the attic. This lightweight foam cover is easily lifted when they need to get into the attic, and easily moved right back when they leave -- meaning they are always protected. This homeowner will be able to have a more comfortable home for years to come!
