These homeowners had a tremendous amount of water that would come into their basement every time it would rain due to hydrostatic pressure. Because of this, their basement was, constantly saturated with water. Because of the water that would enter their basement they had a constantly humid space. Because of the excessive humidity mold was allowed to form. Because of the stack effect their entire home was affected by what was going on in their basement. After dealing with this issue for many years they finally said enough is enough and decided to contact the professionals at Basement Systems of New York to see how we could help them with the issues that were plaguing their home.

Upon our Design Specialist completing his consultation he determined that the best course of action would be to install our patented FlowGuard system with laterals. The reason this was the best system for their home was due to the thickness of their concrete slab, as well as where their mechanicals was. Normally we can run our waterproofing system around the perimeter of the basement, but due to the mechanicals, we had to opt for laterals. The laterals we installed will work the same as if we had put in our typical continuous one-piece system to get all the water from the basement to our gravity basin. 

Once our system was in place, we then connected everything and dug for our gravity basin. This basin would allow for any water that our system would catch to go out to daylight with the help of gravity. A gravity discharge was ideal for this project because of how their yard was pitched. As well a gravity discharge was important to the homeowners as they do not live there year-round. Essentially they would not be able to monitor the system. By installing a gravity discharge, they do not have to worry about losing power and their system not keeping their home dry.

Since installing our patented systems these homeowners have noticed an increase in their comfort levels throughout the entire home. As well they now have a dry and comfortable basement that they can finally again use as an area for storage and entertainment. Because of how wet 2021, they continued receiving water in their basement in the obvious spots that they always saw. To take care of the water issue plaguing this basement, we started by creating a trench around the entire perimeter of their basement with two laterals along the front and back of the basement to mitigate hydrostatic pressure. Once everything was dug out we started to lay our perforated pipe and cover it with gravel through the entirety of our trench and laterals. This piping will eventually tie into our sump pump and direct any water caught by our system out of the home.

Next, we drilled our weep holes on the bottom of their block foundation. These weep holes allow us to redirect water that is entering their home to our waterproofing system. After drilling our weep holes throughout the perimeter of their foundation, we installed our DryTrak and FlowGuard waterproofing system before applying concrete to the trench we created and returning the basement to its former glory before we started their project.

Since completing this project, these homeowners have not seen any water in their basement, as well they were able to finish their basement. This homeowner contacted us to see what could be done to remedy the water problem they were having in there basement. Our Design Specialist came out to assess what was wrong with their home. In the process of assessing their home, he found out they had a monolithic foundation. He was able to determine this by seeing that there was a full exposed block where the floor and wall meet, this indicated to him that the floor was poured first and then the wall was built on top of it, which is not a traditional way to build a home. The traditional way to construct a home is to pour the footing, then the wall and lastly pour the floor. A home is traditionally built this way as the footing is the most important part of the home. Due to this if a traditional waterproofing system was to be installed the structural integrity of the home would be compromised, as a third of the footing would be removed. Due to this home having a monolithic foundation we needed to install our patented Dual System with DryTrak.

In this situation, we needed to install our Dual System to stop water from coming in at the floor joints, floor cracks and to alleviate water from coming up under the floor due to hydrostatic pressure. In order to install our Dual System with DryTrak, we had to jackhammer one foot away from the wall, by doing this we can create a footing that does not compromise the structural integrity of the home. By doing this we can eliminate water coming up through the slab due to the creation of the path of least resistance, as well due to DryTrak water will be stopped at the wall-floor joint. In order to implement Drytrak with our Dual System, we needed to grind the wall-floor joint to allow for maximum adherence of epoxy. We then cleaned the surface to perfection, and then finally apply epoxy to the wall-floor joint to run DryTrak around the perimeter of the basement, by doing this we will be able to catch any water that penetrates their home and direct it to the sump pump.
