One section of my basement has been getting run-off during this year's very wet winter, spring and summer. As a result, I have a rug that I am never able to completely dry out (including all the padding and wood strips underneath); and it is moldy. The run-off appears to be coming from one spot under the basement steps. I would like to investigate getting that leak stopped, removing all of the carpeting, fixing the mold problem and probably installing some kind of tile floor.

11 years ago, retention pond in neighbor's yard overflowed from heavy rains and water burst into our basement windows filling it 3-4 feet. We replaced carpet. 10 months later, heavy storm caused power outage, shutting down sump pump and we got 6 inches in basement. Replaced carpet again. Now, 10 years later, sump pump pipe froze and water backed up through sump pump causing 3-4 inches of water. Took carpet out AGAIN. This is a rec room where we spend a lot of time. Need new type of flooring but needs to be warm, inviting and comfortable and look nice. Interested in your advice.
