CarbonArmor System to help with wall bowing, Burlington, ON

At first glance, the basement in the before picture looks similar to any other basement with tons of random things stored there, but once we were able to inspect the walls, we noticed a crack from one window to the other. It is easier to see in the after picture.

To stop the foundation wall from bowing in, Clarke Basement Systems installed CarbonArmor® Reinforcing System, which is the same material to reinforce bridges, skyscrapers and bomb shelters. With our CarbonArmor installed, this Burlington homeowner can now rest easy, knowing that the best systems available are supporting his once bowing, basement wall

Leaking Floor in Georgetown, Ontario

Some home repairs we look forward to working on, while others we can’t wait to get over with and move along.

In Georgetown, Ontario, a customer reached out to us to deal with a water seepage problem in their basement. Water was seeping in through the centre of the floor where cracks had formed in the concrete, and the customer was concerned about long-term damage.

After meeting with System Design Specialist Don Clarke, the customer was ready to set up a date for the repair.

Foreman Rob Trevisan dug a lateral ditch throughout the floor where he installed our WaterGuard® Drain System. The drain was run to a TripleSafe® Sump Pump, and we added an UltraSump® Battery Backup for peace of mind. Lastly, the walls were encapsulated with ThermalDry® Wall Membrane to both seal and insulate the walls.

The customer is thrilled with how quickly the entire repair process went and he appreciates the hard work from the entire Clarke Basement Systems team.

Full Waterproofing System for New Homeowners in Neustadt, Ontario

Purchasing a new home is exciting. Whether it’s a brand-new townhouse in the city or a vintage 100-year-old farmhouse, it’s a huge milestone. We can’t wait to move in and make the place our own, but sometimes some issues need to be tackled before settling in.

A customer in Neustadt, Ontario, had just purchased a home built in the 1970s. There was an original basement and an additional crawl space, with both concrete and dirt floors. The customer was moving into the new home soon but wanted to have his new home waterproofed first. After speaking with our team at the Fall Cottage Life Show, he decided to reach out to us and set up a free inspection.

System Design Specialist Robert Langton inspected the customer’s new home. The customer wanted the entire basement and crawl space to be dry, so Robert designed a system to make the customer’s wishes come true.

Foreman Lucio Flores and his crew installed several waterproofing products that work together to keep the space dry. The entire perimeter was excavated, and a WaterGuard® Drain System was installed to collect any water. Since part of the crawl space has a dirt floor, Lucio laid down CleanSpace® Drainage Matting before encapsulating the entire area with CleanSpace® Vapour Barrier. Crawl spaces often deal with high humidity, so the customer also chose an Aprilaire MoistureLoc® Dehumidifier.

To keep the water moving out of the home, a TripleSafe® Sump Pump was installed along with an UltraSump® Battery Backup. As an extra measure, we also installed a SmartDrain® in the crawl space and SilverGlo™ Window Insulation to help save energy. Finally, an IceGuard® Discharge Line was put in place to prevent a backup from freezing.

The customer is thrilled that his new home is dry. He can’t wait to move in and make the place his own, and he can do so without worrying about a basement flood!

Traveling Customer Worried About Sump Pump Failing in North York, ON

Peace of mind is something we all strive for in our homes. When you travel for work and frequently leave your home vacant, peace of mind becomes that much more important.

A customer in North York, Ontario, had been living in his home for almost eight years. He had never given much thought to his sump pump, but over the last couple of years, it had been making some unusual noises. The homeowner was away from home for work every month, so the last thing he wanted was to come back to a flooded basement.

He reached out to Clarke Basement Systems and met with System Design Specialist Chris Tunney. Chris inspected his basement and recommended our TripleSafe® Sump Pump System. The customer was relieved to hear this system came with three backup pumps, and he booked a date for the installation.

Foreman Dave Jackson started by removing the old sump pump. He installed our SuperSump® Pump, made up of two motors, into the pit. Next, Dave set up the UltraSump® Battery Backup pump, which runs even in a power outage. To complete the repair, Dave poured fresh concrete around the top of the sump liner to relevel the floor.

The customer is happy to finally have some peace of mind when he leaves for work. He’s happy he chose Clarke Basement Systems and appreciates the work done by the entire team.
