Comment: Water coming in thru foundation

Project Location: Alamae Lakes Rd, Washington, 15301

Comment: 23 year old home sitting down-slope from road. No water into home issue before landscaping work done last Fall including new concrete slab front porch and sidewalk. On three occasions, water has come into basement game room along front wall. Considerable water came in recently after overnight 1-2 inch rainfall. My and original home builder's opinion is that it is due to layout of walk, porch, stone landscape beds up against bare, previously above-grade block and/or the original foundation bottom French drain being over-whelmed by additional water being directed to the house by the walk and porch crushed rock underlayment instead of away from it. A deep trench runoff drain was included in the landscaping and placed in front of the stone-mulched beds, some of the walk and all of the porch, but one side of the walk is unprotected and slopes into the front behind the trench drain. This is where I think most of the water is coming from after prolonged, heavy downpours. I am in the process of working with the landscaper to address the situation on the right side, but would like to get an expert opinion about what is going on and what may be necessary to do to best rectify the situation. Not only concerned about water run in, but almost the danger of the additional weight of continuously moistened dirt and clay pushing the foundation. Like to address this situation ASAP. Thank you.
