Comment: We are in an older building that was remodeled in 2015. It is a single family home. Unfinished basement with a crawl space under the kitchen that was an extension (still working on figuring out exactly when it was added). Foundation on the outside looks much newer than the original footprint of the house. We have had some issues with a couple of rats in the crawl space. Exterminator handled the acute problem but looking for a long term solution. I have no idea as to the state of the crawl space. We were told by inspectors it looked good, has vapor barrier etc. It is a dirt floor. We are dealing with significant drafts though in the parts of the house that are over the crawl space. I am looking for someone to come in, clean it out properly (there may be a dead rodent or two if they didnt exit prior to being contaminated), deodorize, insulate where it can be and potentially develop a better system to stop rodents from finding their way in.
