Comment: My house is over 100 years old. Bricks in the basement walls are disintegrating in a couple of places. The kitchen is an addition at the rear of the house with a crawl space under it. Plumbing located in the crawl space has just frozen and burst, and there is a crack in the drainage pipe. The crawl space is poorly insulated and poorly closed off. It has a dirt floor, I believe fiberglass insulation, and is only sealed from the outside by a piece of cardboard with bricks piled in front of it. It is currently very difficult to access -- previous owners built a deck on back of the house, and you have to crawl under the deck about 15 feet to reach the entrance to the crawl space.
