Comment: Good Afternoon, I am the project manager or real estate for a non for profit Lutheran . We have group homes for people with intellectual and developmental disabilitiesAppleton, WI has some foundation issues. We had a mold remediation company go out to the home and clean up mold in the basement. When they were doing work they noticed a small fissure in the concrete floor of the crawl space where water was coming up out of. In completing the project, we discovered that there is an ongoing ground water intrusion in the crawl space. In fact, we evacuated standing water and dried the area on Monday, only to return on Tuesday to again find standing water. This was unusual, as we had deployed (at no additional cost to the project) sufficient dehumidification equipment to remove any water. In the second evacuation, we found the source not to be in the block foundation wall, but actually a fissure in the concrete floor. While all water was removed a second time, some additional water from this very small orifice continued invading the space. We placed a vacuum pump hose on the orifice and removed several gallons of water, only find water welling up in the fissure. This is comparable to a natural spring and when the water table recedes to normal levels and when frost ends, this should resolve itself.
