The liner and lid are designed to form a tight seal around the CleanSpace liner. The SmartSump has a unique lid design so water from a plumbing leak fills an alarm pocket on the lid first, sounding a WaterWatch alarm. From there, the water flows down a special airtight floor drain that lets water down, but damp air cannot come up into your crawl space. The alarm also alerts you to pump or power failures. 

The dimples in the drainage matting allow better conductivity for water to get to the perimeter drainage or sump pump located in the lowest spot of the crawlspace.
